Makarfi stated this at the party’s Abuja secretariat as part of his words to PDP stakeholders from Oyo and Osun State chapters, who paid him a visit.
The chairman blamed PDP’s political misfortune to culture of impunity and members not playing by the rules saying to turn the corner it members must start doing the right thing.
He said, “We must stop cutting corners. We live in a high litigious society. When we cut corners thinking that nobody will see you, a lot of people have seen you. At a time you least expect, somebody will drag you to court again. Therefore, what is worth doing is worth doing well.
“We are not in politics to suffer but form government. PDP was the dominant party but internal crisis caused us to lose election.
“Let’s build a strong and virile political party. Let there be a level playing field for people to freely choose who they want to present as party’s candidates. That is the surest way to get to power come 2019. That is what internal democracy entails.”
Among those who were at the meeting were, Senators Iyiola Omisore, Akin Olasunkanmi, Chief Olu Alabi, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Senator Femi Lanlehin, Senator Hosea Agbooola.
