Five members of a branch of Redeemed Christian Church of God in Egor local government area of Edo State were on Wednesday arraigned for alleged murder of another member of the church, 19-year old Lucky Chukwuka.

The accused that include a 300-Level Pharmacy student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Uche Rickson Esegine, Godwin Ukrakpor aged 70, Uche Esegine 22, Taiwo Omogoroye aged 42, Austin Osaikhuwuomwan aged 39 and Meshak Owuh aged 28 and their victim were all members of Ugbowo branch of the church.

The suspects were arraigned on a two-count charge of murder and conspiracy before an Evbuoriaria Chief Magistrate’s court.

They allegedly committed the offence around 5am on July 1st 2017 at Sapele road in Benin City, on their way from a church all night service.

The prosecutor told the court that the five men acted in a manner that negligently caused the death of Lucky Chukwuka, an admission seeker.

Presiding Chief Magistrate, Frank Idiake, ordered the remand of the accused in prison custody.
He declined jurisdiction over the matter and referred their case to the State DPP for legal advice.
