Pepsi-cola Company has confirmed rumours making the rounds that the company will launch a smartphone.
The food and beverage company however has no plans to get into the mobile phone manufacturing business, a PepsiCo spokeswoman told Reuters via email.
Leaked image and details of a budget Android handset called the Pepsi P1 emerged earlier this week.
“Available in China only, this effort is similar to recent globally licensed Pepsi products which include apparel and accessories,” the spokeswoman said.
According to a report from Mobipicker, the P1 will run Android 5.1 Lollipop and have a 5.5-inch, 1080p screen.
Inside, there is said to be a 1.7GHz processor, 2GB of Ram, 16GB of internal
storage and a 3,000 milliamp-hour battery.
The handset is also said to boast a 13-megapixel camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies.
A leaked image suggests there may be a fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device and possibly physical buttons beneath the screen.
