In the midst of multiple sex scandal surrounding him, the Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has stepped down from pastoral duties.
Several women including actress Doris Ogala, his ex-wife, Bessem Agnes Okafor, have accused Okafor of randiness among other unpastoral acts with multiple women alleging that he impregnated and abandoned the children from their illicit affairs.
Amid all this, the embattled pastor on Friday at the church service in Ojudu area of Lagos said he was stepping down briefly from pastoral duties.
He announced this during a sermon in which the reason he advanced for the action, has no connection with the scandal.
His words, “I will be resting. It would be time for personal retreat with God and time for me and my wife to rest,” the pastor told his congregation.
“Since our wedding, we have not rested. We have not had time. We have not even done our honeymoon. So, we are stepping aside to pray, to have a retreat and to rest from this January, and to return better and stronger from the presence of the Lord.”
He stated that he would not be totally absent from church activities, adding that the break would last until February.
