A medical student at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Timilehin Toromade, has died while sleeping.
Toromade, according to the statement released by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, was discovered dead in the early hours of Tuesday by one of his roommates while the guy opened their room door for another roommate at around 2.00am.
The deceased the report said was in part 3 with matriculation number CLI/2022/133.
“The Management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has received with profound shock, deep sorrow and a heavy heart the devastating news of the sudden passing of an eighteen-year-old Part Three student of the College of Health Sciences, Department of Medicine and Surgery — who reportedly died in his sleep in the early hours of today, Tuesday, 6th of January, 2026,” the statement read in part.
Olanrewaju also conveyed the condolences of
OAU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simeon Bamire, to the late student’s family his classmates, colleagues and friends, adding that efforts are in place to find out the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
