The Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the University of Benin, Colonel Umar Otokiti(retd.), was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ekiadolor Magistrates’ Court in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state for robbery.
Otokiti(pictured), a retired soldier, and one Osayande Osaro were arraigned on a three-count charge of stealing, and housebreaking after they allegedly broke into the house of one Dr. Emmanuel Irabor, a lecturer in the institution, on November 14, and carted away property worth over N27 million.
However, Otokiti and Osayande pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the Magistrate, Franca Oghator, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 and a surety in like sum who must be gainfully employed.
