A woman, Mrs Chisom Okonkwo, has been arraigned before the court in Enugu State for falsely accusing her husband of defiling their two daughters multiple times.

According to a statement the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe released on the matter, Mrs Okonkwo had lodged complaints with the police, alleging the husband of defiling their daughters and threatening to kill her if she made the incident public.

Her allegation, the report claim was however found untrue as her two daughters and the couple’s son dismissed it, with police investigation uncovering that the woman’s accusation not in tandem with reality.

Ndukwe said the daughters in the refutal revealed that their mum had earlier tutored them to corroborate the allegations she levelled against their father.

“Investigations revealed that, contrary to her claims, the periods in 2024 and 2025 during which Chisom alleged the offences occurred were the same times she had travelled alone with all the children to their hometown in Imo State.

“It further showed that, in two separate handwritten voluntary statements, their seven-year-old son exonerated his father and disclosed that their mother had coached him and his sisters to falsely accuse their father — a fact supported by video evidence,” Ndukwe wrote.

The report added that Okonkwo was arraigned before the Magistrate Court of Enugu State on a two-count charge of defamation and giving false information, and was granted bail, with the case adjourned for further hearing.
