Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has imputed corruption to the factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Amb. Umar Damagum.
The PDP has been embroiled in long crisis culminating in the current state in which it is fictionalised, with one side under Damagum’s leadership and the other loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike chaired by Mohammed Abdulrahman in acting capacity.
Speaking on Channels Television programme, ‘Politics Today’, on Monday Wike threw shade at Damagum describing him as a tax collector, a veiled reference to corruption allegation.
The former governor also levelled being driven by financial gains with no certain knowledge of the the party’s affairs against Damagum.
“Damagum does not even know who his lawyer was when we went to court. That was how we were able to stabilize and keep Damagun.
“But you see, as a tax collector, he will always be. Damagum is a tax collector. He doesn’t need to work with FIRS, he is a company tax collector.
“There are people who are like that naturally in their life, that is how they are. They think money is everything in life. They think they can never be steadfast,” the FCT minister remarked.
