Punch reports that Inusa’s killer was his rival, Ahmed Saidu. Both reportedly engaged in a Fulani traditional game of Sharo, a game that entails two male suitors flogging each other for a woman’s hand in marriage, and whoever wins between them will marry the girl.
The report said Inusa was the first to flog Saidu. However, tragedy struck when it was Saidu’s turn as he allegedly hit Inusa on the head, instead of hitting him on the back as the rules of the game dictates.
“Inusa’s father, Mallam, reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of Saidu,” Katsina State Police Command spokesman, DSP Gambo Isah said while confirming the incident to the paper.
