Mrs. Olayemi Odetomi, wife of former Oyo Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Peter Odetomi, has been killed.

Mrs. Odetomi was murdered in cold blood at the family residence in Ashi area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Friday morning.

Unknown gunmen stormed the residence killing the 66-year-old whose widower is one-time Ogbomoso South Local Government chairman and two-time commissioner in Oyo State.

Senator Abdulfata Buhari representing Oyo North has taken to his Facebook account to pen something on the incident.

The post:

Murder of Mrs Grace Olayemi Odetomi: The height of wickedness.

This afternoon, I alongside Hon Bimbo Kolade, Federal Commisioner(RMAFC) paid a condolence visit to our brother and former colleague, Hon. Peter Oluremi Odetomi at his Ashi, Ibadan residence on the gruesome murder of his wife, Mrs Grace Olayemi Odetomi by yet to be identified armed robbers.

I received the news of the murder with shock as Mrs Odetomi was brave, articulate, politically inclined and a strong pillar of support to her husband, Hon. Peter Oluremi Odetomi, an Ogbomoso born politician who was a former LG Chairman, Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources and ex Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

Hon. Odetomi is an easy going and peace loving politician whose performance in public offices is remarkable. That some callous individuals could target him and his family members till the point of killing his wife shows the security architecture of the Oyo state has totally collapsed. This is wickedness taken too far and condemnable.

I call on the state government and all security operatives to immediately unravel the murderous elements that carried out the callous and heartless act and make them face the fullest of the wrath of law. The government must as a matter of urgency review the security architecture and strategies of the state and rejig it to forestall recurrence of such, and return normalcy back to the state.

My heartfelt condolence goes to the aged parents, loving husband, children, siblings and relatives of the deceased at this time.

I pray God in his mercies hold the family steadfast at this perilous time and repose the soul of the departed Mrs Odetomi in paradise. Amen
