Ten persons have been arrested in connection with the killing of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Benue State chapter, Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed.
Late Mohammed and his associate, Yakubu Isah were killed on Friday along Okwudu-Okpachenyi rural road in Otukpo Local Government Area while returning from a security meeting in Ohimini LGA.
The Benue police command in a statement its Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Udeme Edet issued, said the suspects were arrested on Saturday night during a coordinated intelligence-led operation by its tactical teams in Otukpo LGA.
Edet stated that the arrests followed intensive intelligence gathering and tactical operations launched after the gruesome killing of the MACBAN chairman and his associate.
The suspects were identified as Titus Thyodenda, 25; Utibe Sam, 20; Owoicho Ameh, 18; Sunday Useni, 21; Sunday Ogbanje, 46; Daniel Raphael, 23; Adokole John, 24; Samuel Ogazi, 32; Agbo Daniel, 25; and Onazi James, 30.
In the statement the police spokesperson remarked that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, commended the tactical teams and investigators for their swift response and professionalism, which led to the arrests.
He reportedly assured residents that investigations were ongoing and that efforts had been intensified to identify and apprehend other persons linked to the killings.
