The 20 medical students of University of Jos and University of Maiduguri kidnapped in Benue State last week have been rescued.
According to report in circulation, the joint efforts of the military, police and the Department of State Security (DSS), with the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) coordinating the operation led to the rescue.
Benue State Police Command spokesperson, Catherine Anene, confirmed the development last night with a terse SMS.
“Kidnap victims released. Details will be released tomorrow (today) morning please,” she said.
Recall that the students were abducted penultimate Thursday on the Otukpo-Enugu Highway in Benue State while they were on their way to the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students in Enugu.
