The 27-year-old Manchester United goalkeeper expressed his reservation for the ball after the game between the La Furia Roja and the German national team last Friday which ended a score draw.
“It’s really strange, It could have been made a lot better,” Gea said about the ball named Telstar 18.
His deputy, Pepe Reina, was more direct in his criticism saying, “I bet you as much as you like that we’ll see at least 35 goals from long range in Russia, because it’s impossible to work out,” he grumbled. “It’s covered in a plastic film that makes it difficult to hold on to. Goalkeepers are going to have a lot of problems with this ball.”
