The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCD, is said to have requested for N310m to feed and administer drugs to dogs that will be deployed in states for the 2019 elections.

Punch reports that the request was contained in the 2018 virement proposal sent to the National Assembly for the 2019 general election by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Medical and general expenses for dogs, N143,782,000; feeding of dogs: N166,315,000,” the paper gave a breakdown of the figure.

According to it, the Nigeria Police Force in the proposal also require N7m to feed 50 horses for patrol during the elections scheduled for February 16 and March 2, 2019.

The report said the total police budget in the proposal for the elections stands at N30.5bn while that of the NSCDC is put at N1.2bn.
