The Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has declared that the Peter Obi-Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket is unbeatable in credibility, capacity and commitment to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Kwankwaso made the bold claim while featuring on the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Personality Interview Series on Sunday in Abuja.
The former Kano State governor said the combination of Obi and himself had what it takes to defeat every other presidential contender in the 2027 race.
He said their partnership was designed to produce a politically balanced ticket capable of bridging Nigeria’s deep regional and religious divides.
According to him, Obi brings significant political support from the South, while his Kwankwasiyya political structure gives the ticket a strong foothold in the North.
“Nobody, no ticket, can beat our own in terms of credibility, capacity and, of course, love for the country.
“Even in terms of empathy for the poor who are suffering across the country today, no other contender can match us,” Kwankwaso said.
The former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party said his experience with Obi during the 2023 election helped him understand the former Anambra State governor better and strengthened his confidence in their ability to work together.
He argued that Nigeria was desperately in need of political change, citing worsening insecurity, poverty, deteriorating infrastructure and the challenges confronting farmers.
Kwankwaso also faulted the impact of the removal of fuel subsidy, arguing that the policy had yet to translate into better living conditions for ordinary Nigerians.
He added that farmers were facing additional pressure from the influx of cheap imported food, which he said was undermining local production.
The NDC chieftain said the alliance between the Kwankwasiyya Movement, the NDC and Obi’s supporters was aimed at producing a major political realignment and democratic change similar to the political upheaval that brought the All Progressives Congress to power in 2015.
He said the partnership was founded on fairness, justice and equity, insisting that both Obi and himself were committed to improving the lives of Nigerians.
Kwankwaso further explained that his decision to accept the vice-presidential slot was driven by national interest rather than the attraction of occupying the country’s second-highest political office.
He said the 2027 project should therefore be viewed as a broader effort to rescue the country from its current challenges, rather than as a personal ambition to become vice-president.
