The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has shared his viewpoint on the possibility of having a political alliance with former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the race for presidency in 2027 election.

El-Rufai’s open association with the opposition bordering on his being in bed with the leadership of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, and embattled Senator Abdul Ningi of the Peoples Democratic Party, which were predated by the failure of the Senate to confirm his appointment as Minister by President Bola Tinubu on security grounds, has sparked rumours that the All Progressives Congress chieftain his way out of the ruling party.

It is also rumoured that he’s gearing up for a showdown with Tinubu in any capacity in 2027.

Questioned by newsmen in Gombe State on Saturday after commissioning a borehole he donated to a local cattle market at the Pantami area of the metropolis on whether he is having political talks with El-Rufai, Obi said,“I am more interested now in Nigeria’s success. We are always concentrating on the election rather than what Nigerians are going through. My commitment is about Nigerians living in a better society, given a better life and that is my concern.”

The former Anambra State governor equally denied suggestion that he’s on his way out of Labour Party on account of the leadership crisis rocking it.
