Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has given another reason that would stand between him and contesting for the exalted presidency come 2027.
The Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate in 2023 had earlier said that he would not enter the race in 2027 if the PDP zones presidency to the Southeast.
“I have made it clear in my previous speeches that if our parties are going to merge to agree on a candidate from the south-east, as long as he is qualified, we will allow it,” he told BBC Hausa Service last week.
In the latest interview with the Hausa service of the Voice of America, the 77-year-old added that health reason would keep him out of the race saying, “Of course, I will keep contesting again and again as long as I am alive and healthy.
“Even the former US President Abraham Lincoln contested seven times before finally winning.”
