Three policemen attached to Zamfara State Police Command have been killed in the line of duty.
The slain cops were murdered while doing stop-and-search at a checkpoint they mounted along Funtua-Gudau Highway in Tsafe local government.
Nine cops, according to report, were on this particular beat when the bandits struck, killing three of them while some others escaped with injuries.
It was also gathered that the bandits operated on motorbikes which they parked in the bush and trekked about 30 minutes to where their victims were to perpetrate the killing.
It was added that the gunmen escaped by the same means.
