Nine kidnap victims have regained their freedom after their abductors slept off.
Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, made this known in a statement its Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, released where he said after escaping from the kidnappers’ grip, the victims were finally rescued by the Task Force.
“The rescued victims are currently in safe custody and are undergoing necessary procedures before being reunited with their families,” Danja wrote.
He also revealed that the Task Force recovered 56 rustled livestock and arrested a suspected terrorist in other operations in Katsina State.
According to him, acting on credible intelligence, the troops ambushed terrorists while they were attempting to rustle livestock in Bakori Local Government Area.
“The terrorists reportedly opened fire on the troops but fled into the bush after being overpowered by superior firepower,” he explained.
He added that the troops arrested a suspected terrorist during routine operations in Danmusa Local Government Area.
“Items recovered from the suspect during preliminary exploitation were said to indicate possible links to terrorist activities.
“The suspect is currently in military custody and is undergoing further investigation.” Danja narrated.
