The father of one of the eight corps members kidnapped in Zamfara State, has accused the National Youth Service Corps and the security agencies of indifference towards rescuing the hostages.

The latter were abducted on their way to NYSC Orientation camp in Sokoto from Akwa Ibom State.

In the course of their journey in a bus, they were kidnapped on the highway in Zamfara.

Mr Emmanuel Etteh has a daughter in the midst.

In an interview with Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Etteh said NYSC, the security agencies and the entire government are acting unconcerned, leaving the troubled families of the victims to their fates.

His word, “It is very devastating because, as a parent, I am very disappointed by the government. No one has been talking about or asking questions since this incident happened.

“Security agencies are not caring, NYSC leadership shows no concern, and everyone behaves as if nothing happened.

“Every activity is going on, and I keep on asking, ‘Is this a type of government we want for our country? Is this the type of security we can feel safer with?’ NYSC invited these children out of their homes to Sokoto.”
