The deputy governor is in a long battle with Akeredolu alongside some other chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Ajayi had hoped to move out of his quarters located within the Government House, preparatory for his planned defection to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of upcoming governorship election in the state.
He was however, prevented from packing out by the state police commissioner, and officers attached to him(Ajayi) with all his arguments to have his ways falling on deaf ears.
The moment was captured on camera and the pictures have gone viral.
Barring any last-minute change of plans, Mr Ajayi may formally announce his defection to the PDP today while a rally is supposedly being planned by the PDP to welcome him to the party.
