The mother-of-three, who was present when the ugly scene unfolded in 2011 at her late husband’s country home in Biu, Borno State where they had gone for holiday said trouble erupted when Shuaibu started cursing soldiers claiming they were killing Boko Haram members.
This she said culminated in acrimonious arguement between the siblings during which Shuaibu stormed out only to return later to slaughter his elder brother.
“I was outside, about to begin washing when a motorcyclist drove at high speed and parked outside our gate. I looked up in time to see my husband’s brother jumped from the motorcycle holding something in his hand. I was apprehensive. He was in a dangerous mood. I started shouting, calling their mother to come out.
“My husband who was in the mosque came out and wanted to close the gate to bar him from entering the compound… The moment he was talking to me was when his brother struck. He stabbed him in the neck. When he removed the knife, blood gushed out in fountains of bright red. I heard my husband saying, ‘He cut me, he cut me,’ the widow told The Sun.
According to the report, Shuaibu who fled the scene was eventually apprehended.
