A 400-level student of the University of Ibadan, Akolade Gbadebo, has reportedly died at the hands of members of the Oyo State Security Agency, better known as Amotekun.

Gbadebo was of College of Education, Oyo (special) affiliated to the premier university and his alleged killing occurred in Oyo town.

The murder allegation was thrown at Amotekun by the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS.

The students’ union Chairman in Oyo State, Mayowa Opakunle, claimed Gbadebo was killed by trigger-happy Amotekun members last Thursday around 10.30 pm.

He said trouble emanated when members of the security outfit responded to call about some students barricading a road, culminating in a face-off and in an ensuing gun exchange between the two parties on the scene, the undergraduate suffered casualty.

“I was told that Amotekun corps were called that some students barricaded the road in the area. They came and somebody was said to have fired at them and they returned the fire. The bullet hit the student and he died. The incident happened around 10:30pm last Thursday,” Punchng.com quoted Opakunle as saying.
