Indication has emerged that the leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC, have picked June 23 for the party’s national convention.
“It was suggested today that we should have the convention on June 23 but we will have to discuss it with the National secretariat to confirm the date,” the national convention committee chairman, Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State, told newsmen yesterday after inaugurating the 12 sub-committees for the convention comprising 250 members.
The composition of the convention sub-committee is however, tearing the party apart with members of the new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) accusing the presidency of working against them and their likely candidates.
Reports said the nPDP alleged that the Presidency of influencing alleged replacement of about 50 names from the original list immediately after the names were published.
