Afrobeats star, Ahmed Ololade, better known by his stage name, Asake, on Sunday at a Major League Soccer fixture between the New York Red Bulls and Columbus performed the ceremonial coin toss before kick-off.
Asake was the guest of honour at the match and posted photos and videos of the moment on Instagram.
In them, the singer is seen standing between match officials while flipping the coin to decide the club to do the kick-off and the sides of the field to play from.
Captioning the post: “Asake music gives you wings,” one of his hit singles rent the air in the stadium through loudspeakers during the match ceremony.
The clip also shows Asake exchanging handshakes with the two team captains and posing for photographs with match officials.
