The application made to an Ogun State High Court sitting in Ijebu-Ode by Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, aka KWAM1, to stop the selection and installation of the next Awujale of Ijebuland has been declined.

KWAM1 had dragged
Governor Dapo Abiodun and five others before Justice A. A. Omoniyi seeking for interim injunction to restrain the defendants from going ahead with selection process for the vacant Awujale stool.

The artiste represented in the court by Wahab Shittu (SAN), asked for the injunction pending the hearing of his substantive suit challenging the selection process.

On Monday, Justice Omoniyi dismissed the application on lack of merit grounds saying there’s no justification to grant the prayer.

Instead, the judged ordered expedited hearing of the substantive matter, fixing 14 January 2026 for proceedings

Recall that KWAM1, an aspirant to the vacant Awujale stool claimed to be from Jadiara Royal House, a constituent part of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House who the vacant stool is the turn of a member of their family to assume.

The legal battle stems from the claim that Ayinde has no blood relationship with them by the Funsengbuwa Ruling House.
