The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has announced two-day off during the for civil servants in its employ.
Ortom made the announcement on Thursday at an interactive session with newsmen in Makurdi, the state capital where he said the development has been communicated to the workers.
According to the governor, the two-day off are: Thursdays and Fridays and they are to be used for farming.
He explained that the sole aim of the idea was to boost food security saying the directive became imperative because the planting season is well underway.
“Workers will be allowed to come to office three days. On Wednesdays, when they close from work, they can travel to their communities to farm from Thursday till Saturday,” Ortom said.
