A man working with the Benue State University Teaching Hospital BSUTH, Makurdi has been killed over allegation that he stole handset.
The deceased whose identity has not been made public was tortured to death at Gyado village, Kilometer 4, along Makurdi-Gboko Road.
The village is notorious for cult activities.
The deceased hospital worker was accused of stealing handset over which he was beaten to death by rough youths in the village.
His killing sparked reprisal attack on Saturday night as those loyal to the slain medical worker razed down the house of the father of the youth leader.
It resulted in fears of further violence gripping peace-desirous residents while police have stepped into the matter.
