A chairmanship aspirant in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State, Mr. Wilfred Aondosoo Tondo, was on Thursday, killed by unknown gunmen.

Late Tondo was a senior lecturer in the Department of Political Science, the University of Mkar, Mkar (UMM), a privately owned and Christian Faith institution located in Gboko Local Government Area of the state.
He was one of the aspirants contesting for chairmanship in the rescheduled local government election in Benue State. Earlier the election was slated for September 3, 2016.
Reports say in the early hours of Thursday while Late Tondo and his family were having morning devotion in his bedroom, gunmen forced their way into the room having sneaked into the premises of the building and killed him.
It was said that the incident happened around 4.30am, and according to reports, the gunmen went straight for Tondo, shot him dead and fled, raising suspicion that the deceased was assassinated.
