Interior Affairs Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who is bedevilled by claim that he is involved in the financial shenanigans that caused President Bola Tinubu to suspend the Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Minister has spoken on his mission at the Aso Rock Villa on Tuesday.
New Planet Project Limited, a firm the Minister founded was awarded N438 million consultancy contract by the Edu-led Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation ministry.
The leakage of the impropriety sparked outrage to which Olubunmi in an interview he granted Channels Television’s Politics Today retorted, “I am not a signatory to the company.
“And actually, I was shocked because the company in question was a company where I was a director. About five years ago, I had resigned from my directorship.”
Amid growing calls for the Interior minister’s head he was seen at the Villa on Tuesday triggering widespread rumour that the President had summoned him and was about to give him Edu treatment.
This, his Media aide, Tunde Alao debunked in a statement he released where he said his principal’s visit to the State House has nothing to do with the scandal, adding that it was to brief President Tinubu on the outcome of the recently launched online passport portal.
“The minister only visited Aso Rock to keep an earlier scheduled meeting with President Tinubu. The sensational social media headline that says the minister was summoned to Aso Rock was quite misleading and should be discountenanced by Nigerians,’’ Alao wrote.
