Ace comedian, Julius Agwu, hinted that his sickness was caused by a spiritual attack from politicians, who were against his governorship ambition in 2015.

Agwu had declared to run for Rivers State Governorship election in 2015, and not long after his declaration, he was diagnosed with brain turmoil, a disease that almost killed him, put his career on hiatus, and took him to United States for proper medical treatment.
“We decided to go to America and I was told that I had three tumours, one at the back, which was like a golf ball and two others were inside my brain. We started looking for my documents. At a point, I almost committed suicide,” he once said in an interview.

The humour merchant, has however, laid the genesis of his trouble at the door of politicians in a veiled statement he made in an interview he granted Punch.

“We live in a country where people are funny. Remember there was a time I made it public that I wanted to contest as a governor for my state, now, people have advised me not to try it again because they believe that my illness was a spiritual attack. We live in a country where people test your power when you announce that you want to contest for an office. My good friend, Okey Bakassi, told me that the illness was a spiritual attack and pleaded with me not to try it again. He said that there was a time he also thought of contesting for a political office but that something happened to him which he said he would never forget. I just kept on laughing,” he told the paper.
