Former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has revealed that a gossip bordering on her having plan to kill her late husband, ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, once got traction with the deceased.
A 600-page biography titled, ’From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari’, authored by Dr. Charles Omole, launched at the State House on Monday contained this shocking revelation.
In the 22-chapter book, Mrs Buhari said by reason of the gossip which occurred while the late President was in the country’s saddle, he “began locking his room” against her.
His change of attitude towards her, according to the account credited to the immediate-past first lady, had a devastating effect on his health allegedly due to mismanagement of his diet by those in charge of his feeding then.
“Then came the gossip and the fearmongering. They said I wanted to kill him.
“My husband believed them for a week or so,” she said, revealing that the President began locking his room, changed small habits, and crucially, “meals were delayed or missed; the supplements were stopped,” the book quotes her as saying.
The culmination of their spousal rift and disruption in feeding according to the statement attributed to the former president’s widow was the health crisis that forced him, to take 154 days of medical leave in 2017.
