A young couple who were bound for Canada in apparent relocation died in the explosion that rocked Abule Ado area of Lagos State on Sunday.
The explosion which was caused by a truck that rammed into a stack of stationery gas cylinders destroyed over 50 buildings including a catholic-owned school, Bethlehem Girls College, killing the principal, Rev. Sr. Henritta Alokha, and two others in the school.
The death toll which is in dispute, hovers around 20. It has however emerged that a newly-wed couple, Emmanuel and Chisom Udoakonobi, who were billed to move to Canada today (Tuesday), were parts of the casualties.
Emmanuel and Chisom were both said to be orphan while the former was reportedly a First Class Accounting Graduate.
The deceased young couple are not short of mourners who descended on social media to mourn their demise with one Peter King calling on the bereaved family to sue NNPC.
King wrote on Facebook: “The family should sue NNPC out of business.
What a country!”
