Former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has paid tribute to the suspension of the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu suspended Emefiele on Friday, and subsequently to the incident, the CBN governor has been in the custody of the State Security Service, with the moment the security police moved him from a vehicle into a waiting jet for onward journey to Abuja from Lagos captured, and has gone viral.
For Sani’s part, the suspension of the apex bank’s governor was a welcome development, saying the embattled CBN chief showed too much pliability to cabal in the immediate past Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration in matter of money.
This, the former Senator tweeted, and also urged Tinubu to engage external auditors to dig deeper into financial activities of CBN under Emefiele.
The tweet: “The eviction of Emefiele is commendable. The appointment of Shonubi as acting governor is commendable. But the house cleaning of the CBN can only be done by engaging a team of auditors from outside of the CBN.
“Only they can professionally and thoroughly probe the apex bank and tell the country how the bank was run under Buhari’s Emefiele.
“The CBN was operated as an ATM of the Cabal, a canteen, and cash cow of the parasitic elites of the past administration.”
