A Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) shepherd and his wife have died in a shocking tragedy that unfolded after a reported domestic fight at their residence in Ogun State.
The couple, Evangelist Abidemi Odukoya and his wife, Adenike, were said to have been involved in a heated argument at about 3am on Monday, August 25, 2026.
Odukoya was the Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Dews of Heaven Parish, also known as Iri Orun, where the couple lived within the church premises.
Community sources said the quarrel later turned violent, with Mrs Odukoya reportedly suffering serious injuries to her head.
The evangelist was said to have left the residence after the incident.
Their son reportedly raised the alarm, prompting neighbours, members of the Community Development Association and other residents to rush to the scene.
However, Mrs Odukoya was found unresponsive and was later presumed dead.
While residents were still grappling with the shocking incident, another grim discovery was reported around 6am.
The body of an unidentified man was found along the Iyana Coker axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
CDA representatives who went to the location reportedly identified the deceased as Evangelist Odukoya.
Some eyewitnesses alleged that the cleric deliberately moved into the path of an approaching vehicle, but the claim has not been independently confirmed.
Authorities have therefore not officially established that his death was suicide, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
Police personnel were subsequently said to have taken over the matter and commenced investigations into the deaths.
Mrs Odukoya was reportedly buried at the family residence on August 25, while relatives of the evangelist were said to be working with the authorities on the release of his remains.
The double tragedy has plunged the couple’s family, church members and the surrounding community into mourning, as investigators work to unravel what happened in the early hours of that fateful morning.
