CHARLY BOY HIT BY DOUBLE TRAGEDY, FATHER’S STROKE WORSEN, WIFE’S FATHER DOWN WITH CANCER

Maverick singer, Charles Oputa popularly known as Charly Boy is obviously in distress following the growing ill-health of his aging father, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa (rtd), who has a stroke and his father-in-law, who is down with cancer.

Charly Boy’s father, Justice Oputa famous for the Oputa Panel, a Human Rights Violations Investigation Commission set up by the Obasanjo administration in year 2000, to investigate human rights abuses dating back to the military coup of January 15th 1966 till May 28th 1999 was rushed to Federal Medical Centre, Owerri and later a specialist hospital when his condition grew worse on Valentine’s Day.

Area Father as Charly Boy is called in some quarters took to his twitter page recently to announce the sad news to his teeming followers.

According to the singer, “My Daddy is in the hospital, I need you guys prayers. It’s a shame that the respect that men of integrity deserves goes to the thieves.”

And just as he is battling with the ill-health of his father who is in his nineties, his wife, Lady D’s father is down with cancer in far away United States

Speaking to reporters on his father’s condition the maverick artiste said he is prepared for any eventuality.

“I am prepared for anything that happens to him now because he has seen it all. He’s 97 and we are actually looking forward to him clocking 100 years so that we can celebrate him. But if anything unfortunate happens, we have the capacity to handle it,” he said.

Speaking on his state of mind at the moment, he said his father’s condition as of the time of writing this report was stable, adding that “he’s still strong mentally and spiritually, but he’s down and can not move around like he would have loved to.

“At the moment, there is nothing else I would have wished for him than for me to take care of him with all I have”.
