Sunday’s meeting of top politicians involved in the plan to form a coalition against President Bola Tinubu’s reelection experienced chaos as delegates from Jigawa State disrupted the programme.
The meeting which had former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal in attendance was held at the Abuja Continental Hotel, with the National Political Consultative Group (North) as the organiser.
Trouble ensued when Lawal invited a delegate from Jigawa to speak for the state and had the stage.
The invitation sparked protest as another group claimed to be the Northwest state delegates.
The protesters mounted the stage and blocked others from having access to the stage.
However, the impasse later gave way to resolution as Mustapha Lamido, son of former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, along with another delegate, was chosen to speak on behalf of the state.
