Nollywood actor, Chijioke Temidayo Nwokafor, popularly known as Cjay, has died suddenly, throwing colleagues and fans into mourning.
Cjay’s death was announced on Wednesday, with actress and filmmaker Nkechi Blessing Sunday among those who expressed shock over the development.
The actor reportedly spoke with Nkechi around 8am on the day he died, making his sudden death several hours later particularly difficult for the actress to comprehend.
Nkechi subsequently cancelled the release of her movie, Egusi Ogbono, which had been scheduled to premiere at 5pm that same day.
Cjay was said to have featured prominently in the movie, further deepening the impact of his death on the production team.
The actress later mourned the actor, expressing disbelief over his sudden passing and recalling that they still had plans together.
The cause of Cjay’s death had not been publicly disclosed as of the time of filing this report, while details of his funeral arrangements were also yet to emerge.
Cjay, who hailed from Awka, Anambra State, was based in Lagos and began his professional acting career in 2021.
He featured in several Nollywood productions, including Larry Cold, Mum Overnight, A Day To My Wedding, The Lies She Tell and What Time Left.
His death has sparked an outpouring of grief from colleagues and fans, with tributes pouring in for the actor whose career was cut short unexpectedly.
