A group, Coalition of Gombe State Indigenes, claims President Muhammadu Buhari drew the ire of Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka because he didn’t give the latter a dime when they last met.

Mbaka had backed Buhari in the run up to the 2015 election and also after. But during the week, the Catholic priest made uncharitable remark about the President in his New Year message at the Emene Enugu Adoration Ground.

The fiery priest claimed Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo has performed creditably well and would be a better President than Buhari.

But in a statement on Wednesday, the Coalition of Gombe State Indigenes disagreed with Mbaka and hit out at him over the remark alleging he was crossed with Buhari after the latter refused to give him money when he visited the Villa.

The group said, “Rev. Father Mbaka should come clean and tell Nigerians what his major motivation is in making this recommendation. We are aware he only received a handshake from the frugal President Muhammadu Buhari when he last visited Aso Villa.

“I advise Father Mbaka to travel to Gombe State and visit the state university, hospitals and water projects in Gombe town and all the other 10 local governments of Gombe State and tell Nigerians his findings.”
