Jigawa Commissioner for Commerce, Alhaji Aminu Kanta, has suffered suspension following suspicion that he is not financially upright in the Iftar feeding programme in Babura Local Government Area of the state.

The commissioner’s suspension was made public by a statement the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim authored.

In it, Ibrahim wrote that Governor Umar A Namadi took the step in line with his commitment to financial accountability and prudent management of public funds.

Iftar is the meal eaten after sunset during Ramadan, which is nearing completion.
