A South African family has dragged the remains of one their male members to an insurance firm’s premises in order to prove his death with the incident reverberating around the globe online.

According to New York Post, it all started with the Old Mutual Insurance company demanding proof from the bereaved family that their uncle, Sifiso Justice Mhlongo, was dead, a condition for the payment of the deceased’s death benefit.

The paper said the nine-day delay in payment meant that the family had to put off important tribal rites for Mhlongo, and that they were out nearly $2,200 in death benefits.

Fed up, the relatives resorted to bringing in the cold, dead proof and captured the moment they took Mhlongo’s remains in body bag to the company and posted it online where it has raked up millions of views.
