The Muslim community in the ancient town of Arigidi Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government area of Ondo state was thrown into mourning in the early hours of Monday, following the untimely death of a couple  whose cause of death was yet to be unraveled.

As the news of the death of Alhaji Awogbemi Akadiri and Busili Awogbemi who were husband and wife and devout Muslims got to town, youths and elders of the community expressed shock and disbelief.

A source in the town said the couple who lived at Agbaluku Street in the town, ate pigeon pea with pap for dinner on Sunday evening before going to bed but did not wake up the following day.

The late Alhaji Awogbemi, 55, who was said to be a member of a Muslim group known as Nasfat in the town and a school teacher at Holy Rosary Primary school in the community and his wife, Busili were said to have displayed no sign of sickness the previous days before the mysterious incident.

According to the source, “Nobody could believe what happened because on Sunday, we saw both of them hale and hearty and there was no sign that such a thing would happen. It is still a mystery to everybody in the town.”

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Wole Ogodo said the police command was still investigating the matter.
