A couple’s death occurred in a mysterious circumstance in the early hours of New Year’s Day, with their son and maid thrown into a river, ostensibly by those behind the grievous matter.
It all happened in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The couple were, Kehinde Fatinye, a former staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, while the wife, Bukola was with the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNNAB), Abeokuta, until their deaths, on the surface from a midnight inferno that gutted their residence at GRA at Ibara area of Abeokuta.
Prior to their deaths in the said fire, the couple had returned home from church where they had gone for the New Year’s cross-over service.
The abduction of their son and maid, and later the dumping of the pair into a river alongside Adigbe-Obada area, a report making the rounds, is raising suspicion that there is more to the fire incident than meets the eyes, and the episode may be a smokescreen to conceal the fact of the matter.
As expected, the police have launched investigation into the matter, with a view to get to the root of it.
