Governor Dapo Abiodun on Tuesday said his government is mulling mandating masks wearing for all Ogun State residents in another measure to curb coronavirus spread.
Abiodun made this known on Wednesday via a statement his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin released in which the government said it has resolved to scrap its current relaxation of the lockdown every two days as from Friday.
The governor explained that the curfew relaxation which enable residents to shop for essential commodities every two days between 7.00 am to 2.00pm will cease to remain in force as from April 17.
This he said was to further tightening the noose around the virus and curtail its spread.
“It should be emphasised that people should only go out if they need to and are required at all times when outside their homes to wear a face mask, including locally made face masks, even as they observe other social distancing measures.
“The state will soon commence strict enforcement of wearing of face mask in the public as it has been shown to help flatten the spread of the virus, ” the statement read in part.
