A former Nigerian junior international, who was part of the junior D’Tigers to the 2007 World U20 Championship in Serbia, Daniel Dauda, is dead.

Dauda, also a former University of Indianapolis basketball player was killed in a freak accident Friday morning when a semi carrying two trailers rolled over, and hit the car which the late Daniel was driving in the opposite direction in Indiana State.

The 28-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Daudu was a 6’1″ guard for UIndy from 2010-2013. The university released a statement regarding his passage: “The University of Indianapolis mourns the loss of Daniel Daudu, who is a well-loved alumnus and former student athlete. During his time on campus, Daniel impacted our entire community. Daniel will be remembered for his athleticism, sense of humor, generous smile and compassion for others.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to Daniel’s family, friends, UIndy basketball and the entire UIndy family.”
