Daughter of a member of the House of Representative, Chief Joe Edionwele, Jessica Edionwele has been abducted in Abuja.
24-year-old Jessica was kidnapped on Wednesday at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport on her way to her father’s house in Abuja after leaving Ibadan where she is serving as a youth corps member.
It was said that Jessica, the second daughter of Chief Joe Edionwele, who represents Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben federal constituency in the lower chamber took an Arik airline flight to Abuja that landed around 4pm.
But the taxi cab the physiotherapy graduate from Ambrose Ali University boarded from the airport to her politician father’s house at Area 1, turned out to be that of kidnappers.
It was further gathered that the abductors have not made telephone contacts with their victim’s father, rather they have been withdrawing money from her accounts through ATM.
It will be recalled that sometime in June, Jessica’s father(pictured right) granted an interview where he spoke out against call to reduce the salaries of national assembly members.
“I think people are speaking out of ignorance. Even before now, I was one of those who believed the same thing. The records will be made public. We will ensure that the National Assembly does that, Nigerians need to know. The salaries we earn are not in any way close to what people speculate. People in the oil and gas sectors, banking and even lecturers earn more than us and the President,” Chief Joe Edionwele said.
