A 200 level undergraduate, Deborah Olajide, believed to be a first student, has been killed by a hit-and-run driver in Akure.

A student in the department of Food Science and Technology of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), the deceased reportedly lived off campus, and on the fateful day her lifeless body was found by the roadside raising suggestion that she was killed in a hit-and-run incident.
The incident, according to multiple reports, cast a pall of grief on the University community, and in a procession held in her honour, her distraught colleagues blocked all roads leading to the campus.
Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the State Command, Mr. Femi Joseph, said police would investigate the incident, just as he appealed to students to remain calm.
