Senator Dino Melaye was pelted with objects by members of a crowd at the Kabba Day Celebration in Kabba/Bunnu Local Government Area of Kogi State, reports published on Saturday revealed.

The incident happened at the township stadium.
Reports say the Senator, who represents Kogi West in the Upper Chamber arrived to a tumultuous welcome and posed for photographs with some of his supporters before taking his seat.
Things, however, took an ugly turn after Melaye mounted the podium to give his speech and donated N3m cash and was heading in the direction of his G-Wagon about to leave the venue.
Suspected thugs started throwing stones and bottles at him as his security details shielded him from being hit by any of the objects.
News of the attack on the senator was said to have reached Governor Yahaya Bello, who was reportedly on his way to the event. It was said that the governor turned back and sent his donation of N20m on behalf of the state government.
