The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has sounded the alarm, warning thousands of desperate job seekers to ignore a fake recruitment update currently making the rounds online.
The board, in a post on its official X page on Sunday, dismissed the viral notice as FAKE, boldly stamping the document with a red “FAKE” watermark to prevent unsuspecting applicants from falling victim.
The forged announcement falsely claimed that candidates who took part in the recent medical screening would be able to check their recruitment status on the official portal from Monday, August 3.
It further deceived applicants by claiming that successful candidates would proceed to the next stages of the recruitment exercise, including fitness assessment and oral interview.
To make the fake notice appear genuine, fraudsters even attached an electronic signature bearing the name of the Board’s Secretary, Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), and dated it August 1, 2026.
But the CDCFIB has completely disowned the document, urging applicants not to be deceived and to rely only on updates released through its verified communication channels.
The warning comes as the board continues its massive 2025 recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS) and the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS).
The nationwide recruitment, which attracted thousands of applicants, has already gone through the physical and medical screening stages.
The medical screening was conducted on June 22, 2026, and the board stressed that no official announcement has yet been made on the next phase of the exercise.
