An unnamed pedestrian was on Saturday killed in Ogba area of Lagos State by a reckless motorist.
The latter, as per the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Mr Adebayo Taofiq in a statement he released rammed his car into the pedestrian and endeavoured to escape arrest.
Taofiq in his account said the the driver of an unregistered white ‘Mercedes Benz’ (CLA 250) car lost control, as a result of over speeding, and hit the victim who died on the spot.
“LASTMA personnel apprehended the driver while running away after he saw that the victim had died as a result of the accident.”
“Commander, Agege) Iju-Ifako axis, Akinola Ganiyu, who led the LASTMA’s rescue team, confirmed that the reckless driver was later handed over to Police from Area ‘G’ Police Command, who were equally at the scene of the accident for further investigations.
“While the vehicle was immediately cleared off the road for free vehicular movement, members of the deceased family later came and removed the corpse,” he wrote.
